Alternative Medicine

There are many alternative medicines which originate in China and other Asian countries. Many people are interested in traditional treatments such as acupuncture, yoga, meditation, herbal medicines, etc.
Even with the strong interest, there are several questions many people have: Which treatments are most cost-effective? What diseases can be helped with which treatments? Who should a treatment be given to? Arethere side effect or contraindications for each treatment? What kind of herbs can treat which ailments? How long does the treatment take to work?
In general, there are two categories for the alternative treatments - complementary treatment (co-treatment with modern medicine, for example practicing Yoga while taking an antidepressant drug), and alternative (using only traditional treatment such as homeopathy).
The main philosophy of each alternative treatment has something incommon. First, your body can treat yourself. When you have a cold, you don't need to take medicine. But you should find some approach to activate the body's immune system to get rid of the disease. Second, prevention is a best. Therefore, the alternative treatment always points to prevention more than treatment. Alternative treatments also emphasize learning and trust between physicians and patients.
